Jeremy Parker Named National Swimmer of the Week
SOMERS, Wis. - With four school and one NCAA Division II national record to his name, the University of Tampa's Jeremy Parker leads the TeamUnify/CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer-of-the-Week awards for results December 14-21.
Parker, along with Martin Hammer, Jordan Augier and Runar Borgen broke the NCAA Division II 200 freestyle relay record with a 1:18.82.
That time ranks the Spartans 9th in the country among all divisions. For his part, Hammer was named TeamUnify CollegeSwimming Sunshine State Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week.
While Tampa was putting on a dominating team performance, UNLV's Lina Rathsack posted the top individual performances among Division I women. The Runnin' Rebel captured the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the CSU-East Bay Christmas Invitational. Other national winners were Jason Coombs of Florida State and Rebecca Matthews of Lynn.
Three teams each swept their respective divisional awards with UC Santa Cruz garnering Division III honors for Kristin White and Christian Leon. Simone de Rijcke and Bart Sommeling captured NAIA honors for Lindenwood-Belleville while Indian River's Jairo Emer and Leah Sims led the way among Junior Colleges.
