Spartan Swim Teams Nationally Ranked
Tampa's men come in at No. 12 while the women are No. 15.
TAMPA, Fla. - Fresh off an impressive showing at the 2016 Spartan Invite, the University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams are both in the top-15 in the latest installment of the College Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) top-25 poll.
Led by head coach Jimi Kiner, the men's squad opened the 2016-17 season at No. 12 and remains in the same spot in the current rankings. The women, who opened the year unranked, have moved into the No. 15 slot under head coach Ed Brennan.
Tampa's men have wins this season over Sunshine State Conference opponents Florida Southern and Rollins, and most recently finished second among six teams at the Spartan Invite in Clearwater.
The Spartan women were also second at the Invite, and also have wins over Florida Southern and Rollins this season.
On the men's side, a total of five SSC schools appear in the rankings. Joining Tampa are No. 2 Nova Southeastern, No. 9 Florida Southern, No. 14 Florida Tech and No. 19 Saint Leo.
Tampa's women are joined by SSC foes Nova Southeastern (3) and Florida Southern (21) in the top-25 as Saint Leo is receiving votes.
Both Tampa teams return to action on January 1 at 6 p.m., against William Jewell College.
