Tampa Overpowers Florida Tech
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams both registered convincing wins on the road over Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Tech.

Men's Final: No. 14 Tampa Spartans 142, Florida Tech Panthers 62
Women's Final: No. 8 Tampa Spartans 117, Eastern Illinois Panthers 84

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The meet totaled 22 events, including 11 for the men and 1 for the women.
- Tampa's women won eight events, including both relays to start and conclude the meet.
- The Spartan men took first in 10-of-11 events, including both relays.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):

Tampa took first in the opening men's race, the 400 Medley Relay, with a time of 3:27.24. The winning team included Hugo Bustamante, Brett Saunders, Luke Hene and Jared Fitzgerald.

Marcos Hillje-Enthoven was first in the 1,000 Free with a time of 9:51.62. He was followed by teammates Christy Moon and Syd Odent to make up the top three.

In the 200 Free, Brett Saunders took his first of two top finishes with a time of 1:42.81. Mikael Haugen and Andreas Johnsen were second and third in the 200 Free. Saunders would later capture gold in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:06.49.

Yannick Smith championed the 50 Free in 21.54, ahead of teammates Kevin Vu and Aaron James.

Kellen Broaderick won the 200 IM with an effort of 1:58.94. Grant Ruster and Thomas Hughson followed to give the Spartans a 1-2-3 finish.

Haugen took the 100 Free in 46.72.

The 200 Back went to Hene as his time was clocked at 1:54.30.

In the 500 Free, Brian Daugherty took top honors with an effort of 4:45.49.

The Spartans would wrap up the meet with a first-place time of 3:08.92 in the 400 Free Relay. The winning group included James, Haugen, Smith and Marvin Slanschek.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):

UT's 400 Medley Relay team won in 3:58.48 as Courtney Sherwood, Elizaveta Bazarova, Anja Oca and Maureen Moore were the fastest group.

The 1,000 Free was championed by Jessie Tobin in 10:36.84 as teammates Alexa Turco and Emily Pfeifer followed. Tobin also won the 500 Free with a time of 5:11.48.

Maureen Moore was the top finisher in the 200 Free in 1:57.09. Megan Goldthorpe and Erin Hixenbaugh made it an all-Tampa top three.

Bazarova won the 50 Free with a time of 23.85.

Hana van Loock was the fastest in the 100 Free at 52.63.

Juliana Carey took the 200 Back as she was timed at 2:06.79.

Tampa completed its victory with a first in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:39.30. The winning team included van Loock, Bazarova, Torey Brierley and Goldthorpe.
UP NEXT:
UT continues its road swing as it travels to West Palm Beach for a Saturday morning meet at Keiser University. The event is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m.
