Spartans Continue Winning Ways at Keiser
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams picked up their second win in as many days as they both dismantled Keiser University on Saturday morning.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Final: No. 14 Tampa Spartans 145, No. 1 (NAIA) Keiser Seahawks 60
Women's Final: No. 8 Tampa Spartans 147.5, No. 1 (NAIA) Keiser Seahawks 57.5

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The meet totaled 22 events, including 11 for the men and 1 for the women.
- Tampa's women won 10 events, including one of two relays.
- The Spartan men took first in 9-of-11 events, including both relays.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):
- UT took first in the opening 200 Medley Relay as the team of Luke Hene, Brett Saunders, Andre Richardson and Aaron James won in 1:32.83.
- Winning the 1,000 Free was freshman Brian Daugherty in 9:50.62.
- Hugo Bustamante took the top prize with a time of 1:43.87 in the 200 Free as he was joined in the top three by fellow Spartans Marvin Slanschek and Brian Valedon.
- After a top relay finish, Saunders won the 400 IM after being clocked at 4:01.73. Saunders later won his second individual gold with a first in the 100 Breast after finishing in 56.40.
- Hene claimed top honors with a time of 49.96 in the 100 Fly.
- Jared Fitzgerald was the fastest swimmer in the 100 Free with a time of 45.27.
- Tampa registered first-place in the 500 Free while Christy Moon had the top time at 4:45.85.
- The Spartans won the second and final relay, the 200 Free Relay, with a time of 1:24.04 from Yannick Smith, Fitzgerald, Mikael Haugen and James.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
- Megan Goldthorpe took gold in the 1,000 Free with a time of 10:45.71 as teammates Sara-Kellett Clark and Emily Pfeifer made up the rest of the top three.
- Elizaveta Bazarova was the fastest swimmer with a time of 1:55.25 in the 200 Free as she was followed by Hana van Loock and Lindsey Grater. Bazarova later championed the 100 Free in 52.06.
- The top finish in the 400 IM came from Courtney Sherwood with an effort of 4:35.67. Erin Hixenbaugh and Jessie Tobin were second and third respectively.
- UT claimed first-place points from Anja Oca in the 100 Fly after finishing in 58.69.
- Torey Brierley was the first-place finisher in the 100 Back as she came in at 1:00.73.
- The 500 Free went to the Spartans as Maureen Moore finished at 5:15.09.
- Freshman Julia Augustsson won the 100 Breast in 1:06.96.
- UT put the final touches on another victory with a first-place time of 1:38.97 in the 200 Free Relay. The winning team included Sherwood, Hixenbaugh, Tobin and Juliana Carey.
UP NEXT:
Tampa has one regular-season meet remaining on its slate, which is scheduled for Friday, January 17 at noon against Indian River State College at the UT Aquatics Center.
