
Brett Saunders Continues to Lead Front-Running Spartans at Midway Point
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams continued competition at the 2020 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships as its men remain first while the women are second through two days.

MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- The Men's 200 Yard Freestyle A Relay of Luke Hene, Yannick Smith, Jared Fitzgerald and Aaron James finished first with a time of 1:19.88.
- Senior Brett Saunders was the story of the second day as he broke the SSC record in the Men's 400 Yard IM with a time of 3:46.40. The previous record, 3:47.18, was set in 2018 by Matthew Holmes from Florida Southern.
- Fitzgerald also took first place in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:37.05.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Another school record was set by sophomore Courtney Sherwood. She placed first in the Women's 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:18.95 and Erin Hixenbaugh placed third with a time of 4:24.34.
- Junior Hana van Loock took the gold with a time of 1:49.30 in the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle. Elizaveta Bazarova placed third with a time of 1:50.32.
