
Tampa Dives Into First Day of Spartan Invite
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams opened competition at the sixth-annual Spartan Invite, with the UT men first and women second overall.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Day One Team Scoring: Tampa 258, Indian River 202.5, Nova Southeastern 187, Lenoir-Rhyne 70, Saint Leo 57.5
Women's Day One Team Scoring: Nova Southeastern 237, Tampa 226.5, West Florida 135, Indian River 87.5, Saint Leo 67. Lenoir-Rhyne 21
Location: Doyle Aquatic Center at the Long Center | Clearwater, Fla.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- In the 1,000 Yard Freestyle, Coleman Kramer took third at 9:28.01.
- Brian Daugherty earned first at 20.18 and Mikael Haugen placed third at 20.35 in In the 50 Yard Freestyle.
- Hugo Bustamante, Jared Mindek, Winn Aung, and Haugen made up the men's 200 Yard Medley Relay and took first place with a time of 1:30.12.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Jessie Tobin was the runner up in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:13.32.
- Elizaveta Bazarova took second place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.16.
- The 200 Medley Relay with Mady Barnes, Bazarova, Johana Koether, and Emma Chestang took third finishing at 1:43.57.
UP NEXT:
Day two of the Spartan Invite will begin with prelims tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Finals are slated for 6 p.m. Fans may watch live at TampaSpartans.tv or follow live scoring through the Meet Mobile app.
