New Record Set on Day Three of Spartan Invite
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams continued competition at the sixth-annual Spartan Invite, with the UT men second and women first overall.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Day Three Team Scoring: Indian River 842.5, Tampa 838, Nova Southeastern 580, Saint Leo 266.5, Lenoir-Rhyne 243
Women's Day Three Team Scoring: Tampa 810.5, Nova Southeastern 785, West Florida 434.5, Indian River 346.5, Saint Leo 266.5, Lenoir-Rhyne 122
Location: Doyle Aquatic Center at the Long Center | Clearwater, Fla.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Parker Knollman finished second with a time of 49.23 in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Mikael Haugen placed third at 49.45.
- In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Ian Morgan placed third with a time of 1:50.05.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Megan Goldthorpe took first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:56.83.
- Having set a new school record in the event earlier in the day at 54.84, Mady Barnes placed third in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 54.88.
- In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Julia Augustsson was the runner up at 1:02.62.
- Courtney Sherwood placed second in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:00.68.
- The 800 Yard Freestyle relay with Goldthorpe, Elizaveta Bazarova, Roma Vrijhof, and Emma Chestang came in first with a time of 7:30.83.
