UT Men Tied for First, Women Second after Day 1 of SSC Championship
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The first day of the 2022 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships ended with Nova Southeastern holding a two point lead over Tampa in the women's standings (54-52). The men's standings had Nova Southeastern and Tampa tied for the top spot with 52 points each. The session featured one event, the 800 Freestyle Relay.

Top Performances:
Nova Southeastern earned the gold with Celina Marquez, May Lowy, Maeve Hunt, and Victoria Ortiz turning in a time of 7:23.33 in the women's relay. Tampa and Lynn, made the cut time for the NCAA Championship in addition to Nova Southeastern.
On the men's side, Nova Southeastern's relay, made up of Thomas Flower, Jarryd Baxter, Spencer Hohm and Luca Alessandrini, set a new SSC Championship meet record while placing first at 6:29.24. The previous record was set in 2017. Along with NSU, Tampa, Saint Leo, and Rollins qualified their relays for the NCCA Championship.
