Tampa Swimming Knocks off NAIA No. 1 Keiser
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams competed in their final regular season meet as they traveled to Keiser University, defeating the Seahawks on both sides.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men's Score: No. 6 Tampa 157, Keiser 105
Women's Score: No. 4 Tampa 146, Keiser 116
Location: Lake Lytal Aquatic Center | West Palm Beach, Fla.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Keiser is the nation's No. 1 team in both the men's and women's NAIA national rankings.
- There was a total of 28 events in the meet.
- UT's men took first in each of the 10 races.
- The Spartan women won seven events.
TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):
- Hayden Curley championed the 1,000 Free, winning in a time of 9:26.30. Curley would later take first in the 500 Free at 4:33.32.
- The 200 Free went to Tampa's Santiago Aguilera with a time of 1:41.51. Aguilera would later take the 100 Free at 45.53.
- In the 200 Fly, the Spartans had a first-place effort of 1:51.56 from Ian Morgan.
- Parker Knollman won the 200 Back in 1:52.45. Knollman would register another win, coming in the 200 Back with a time of 1:52.45.
- UT's Aramis Rivera was the fastest in the 200 Breast, winning in 2:05.92.
- Ben Castro won the 100 Fly with a time of 50.26.
- The Spartans finished the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:24.07.
TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):
- UT won the meet's first event, the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 1:47.53. T?he winning quartet included Emily Van De Wiele, Alli McFarland, Johanna Koether and Tilde Morin.
- Freshman Kim McCaffrey was first in the 100 Back in 59.94. Another first-place finish came for McCaffrey as she won the 200 Back with a time of 2:07.44.
- Alli McFarland won the 100 Breast as she was clocked at 1:05.47.
- Tampa's Julia Augustsson was first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:24.98.
- Holly Wessel was first in the 500 Free with a winning time of 5:20.60.
- Tampa solidified its victory with a first-place time of 1:38.10 in the 200 Free Relay.
