Spartan Men Continue to Lead at Gamecock Invite Following Day Two
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The top-ranked University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams competed at the Gamecock Invite for day two of action at the Carolina Natatorium, with the Spartan men continuing to hold the top spot among five teams while the UT women are fourth of eight teams.
The Spartan men opened the finals with school records in the first three events, including the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM and the 100 Fly.
Top Performers (Men)
- A first-place finish and school record came for the Spartans in the 200 Medley Relay. Tampa posted a time of 1:26.33 as the winning team included Parker Knollman, Jared Mindek, Adrian Aguilar and Blake Moran.
- Santiago Corredor had a school record time of 3:45.16 in there 400 IM as he finished first by 3-plus seconds.
- The 100 Fly resulted in a new UT school record and first-place finish from Adrian Aguilar as he won the event in 46.75.
- Freshman Jacob Hamlin continued on his excellent meet, winning the 200 Free with a time of 1:36.17. Teammate Caleb Brandon was third in the event.
- The 100 Breast had Jared Mindek and Richy Polasek placing fourth and fifth respectively.
- Parker Knollman was the runner-up in the 100 Back with a time of 47.77.
- UT won its fifth event of the night with a first in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 6:29.14 from Jacob Hamlin, Parker Knollman, Caleb Brandon and Santiago Corredor.
Top Performers (Women)
- In the first event of the finals session, UT was fifth in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:41.81 from Sidni Meister, Julia Augustsson, Isabelle Sering and Tilde Morin.
- Sierra Gillan raced to a fourth-place finish in the 200 Free as she was timed at 1:49.58.
- The 100 Back had a sixth-place finish from Madysen Barnes with a time of 55.63.
- UT was fifth in the 800 Free Relay to conclude the night. A time of 7:29.12 came from Lindsey Louder, Sierra Gillan, Kim McCaffrey and Laura Hodgson.
