
UT Men First, Women Second, as SSC Championships Passes Midway Mark
OCALA, Fla. – Day three of the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Swim Championship saw the University of Tampa men continuing to outpace its opponents while the Spartan women remain within striking distance of Nova Southeastern University.
Tampa's men looked to further the gap between themselves and Nova Southeastern as the Spartans remained in first place with 423 points while the Sharks stayed put in second place with 351 points. Florida Southern's men continued to hang in the top three heading into the fourth day of the SSC Championship with 293 points.
On the women's side, the Sharks completed the evening sweep, placing first in all the day three final events to remain first in the standings with 522 points. Tampa continued to sit in second at the end of the third day with 398, while Florida Southern overtook Lynn for the third-place spot, with the Mocs recording 255 points.
Day four begins with prelims at 10 am, followed by the finals at 6 pm.
Top Performances: Rafaela Raurich of Nova Southeastern started Day three of the championship by breaking the previous Women's 100 Fly SSC Championship meet record time of 53.19 with her own time of 53.15 for a first-place finish. May Lowy of Nova Southeastern earned first in the women's 400 IM, posting a 46.69. Nova Southeastern would look to sweep the women's individual races as Emily Trieschmann brought home the Sharks' third gold medal of the night by swimming the 200 Free in 1:47.27.
Turning to the men's portion of the evening's championship, Adrian Aguilar of Tampa claimed the first gold medal of the night, winning the 100 Fly with a time of 46.69. the Men's 400 IM would see Tampa's men take home first in its second event of the day three finals as Santiago Corredor swam a 3:51.37. Marcel Snitko of Nova Southeastern prevented the Spartans from taking their third gold medal of the night, winning the 200 Free with a time of 1:34.62.
