
Jacob Hamlin Named SSC Swimmer of the Week
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Following a stellar week at the Gamecock Invitational, University of Tampa swimmer Jacob Hamlin was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Hamlin set two NCAA Division II records during the three-day Gamecock Invite, pacing Spartans to a second-place finish behind Division I North Carolina. The Orlando product began the invite by setting a new 500 Free national record with a second-place time of 4:16.84 in 500 free. Hamlin set his second national record for the Gamecock Invite, swimming the 1,650 free in 14:55.02 to finish second. The sophomore was also part of the first-place 800 free relay, which erased a pool record at the Carolina Natatorium, which dated back to 1995, at 6:27.12. Hamlin finished fourth in the 200 free at 1:36.97.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of November 18 - 24, 2024. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
