Spartans Set to Host Colorado Mesa University Mavericks
The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team will host the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, at 7:30 p.m. This meeting marks the first match-up between the two universities.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team will host the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks, at 7:30 p.m. This meeting marks the first matchup between the two universities.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (5-5, 0-1 SSC) vs. Colorado Mesa University (5-2)
Date/Time: Friday, March 24th at 7:30 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Spartans defeated the Concordia-St.Paul Golden Bears by a score of 20-7. Tampa had 17 unanswered goals in the victory. Senior, Amanda Voges led the team in points with three goals and four assists. Madison Ewing returned from an injury and scored the most goals (four) for Tampa. Allie Popelar had four draw controls to lead the team.
About the Spartans: The Spartans finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 5-10, and made it to the Sunshine State Conference tournament for the first time in program history. Going into the 2017 season, they return their top three offensive weapons, Voges, Natalie Carraway, and Amanda Rom. Voges was also a 2016 Second-Team All-SSC selection. Nine freshmen join the Spartans this year. Combined, Claire Swanson, Maggie Gladden, and Carly Vaccaro have 36 of the Spartan's total 137 goals on the season.
About the Mavericks: The Mavericks are currently standing with a record of 5-2 and are a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Offensively the Mavericks are led by Lindsi Peters and Jessica Cooks with 22 and 19 goals respectively. Their draw control leader is Olivia Hayden with 23 so far on the season and also has a team-high 14 caused turnovers. In the net for the Mavericks is Jillian Pfeifer with a 4-2 record and .475 save percentage.

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens, and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
