Scudder Ties Doubles Mark as Tampa Cruises Past Saint Leo
TAMPA, Fla. - Junior Caitlin Scudder tied the school record for career doubles victories as the 32nd-ranked University of Tampa tennis team defeated visiting Saint Leo 7-2. The Spartans conclude the regular season with a 14-7 overall record and 3-5 Sunshine State Conference record as the Lions drop to 3-17 and 0-7 in league action.
Scudder won her 32nd career doubles match to move into a first place tie with Heather Eli atop the Spartan charts. Scudder teamed with Lindsey McLendon to record an 8-0 victory from the number-three doubles spot. UT swept the doubles matches with Kourtney Stark and Jamie Lieberman winning at one and Jessica Faber and Allison Beck recording a win at the two spot.
Jessica Faber was victorious for Tampa at the number one singles spot as Saint Leo took the number two and three matches. The Spartan four through six players of Scudder, Beck and McLendon won their matches as well for UT.
Tampa now focuses on the SSC tournament, which will be played beginning on Thursday, April 19 at Hillsborough Community College. UT will be the host of the annual event.
