Spartans Cruise Past Montevallo for Second Straight Win
TIFTON, Ga. - In their second match in as many days, the 28th-ranked University of Tampa women's tennis team played to a 7-2 win over Montevallo University in a neutral site match. The victory improves the Spartans to 4-8 on the year while the Falcons drop to 2-3.
Tampa put itself in great position with a sweep of the doubles matches. Estefania Greco and Kourtney Stark picked up an 8-4 victory from the number one spot while the two team of Kaitlin Scudder and Emily Kennedy won 8-2. At three doubles, Ally Wooten and Lisa Montgomery took an 8-4 win.
In singles, the Spartans took four of the six matches to claim the easy victory. Estefania Greco registered a 7-5, 6-1 victory at number one while Scudder (6-1, 6-0) and Kennedy (6-0, 6-0) took the three and four matches. Wooten also triumphed at number five by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
The Spartans will play again on Sunday against #26 Augusta State (Ga.) University in their seventh match of the season against a nationally ranked opponent. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
