Tampa Wins Sixth Straight With Easy Victory Over Albany State
TIFTON, Ga. - The University of Tampa (6-10) tennis team stretched its win streak to six matches with an 8-1 victory over Albany State University (0-4). The Spartans concluded their trip to Tifton with a perfect 3-0 record as it defeated Abraham Baldwin, Stillman and ASU.
In doubles, the number one team of Kourtney Stark and Claire Runge picked up an 8-1 victory. UT had consecutive 8-0 triumphs in the two and three doubles events from the teams of Victoria Bell/Emily Kennedy and Lindsey Garyn/Megan Mancini.
UT dominated singles play as well, though the Spartans were forced to concede the number six match following an injury to Lisa Montgomery. Mancini collected the lone 6-0, 6-0 straight set win as she won as number three singles.
Stark played number one, where she won 6-1, 6-0. Other UT players to win in singles were No. 2 Runge, No. 4 Ally Wooten and No. 5 Briana Ryan.
