Spartans Continue to Play Well in Win Over West Virginia State
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (5-7) tennis team has now won four of its last five matches as it claimed a 7-2 win over visiting West Virginia State University (12-4) on Tuesday at the UT Tennis Complex.
UT opened doubles play with a pair of wins, with the number-one team of Meg Wladimirski and Lauren Hewett tallying an 8-6 win. At number three, Tampa's Thashia Garcia and Briana Ryan were also victorious by an 8-2 mark.
Garcia and Wladimirski also won their singles matches at the one and two spots, as Wladimirski took the third set for the triumph. Megan Mancini, Jenelle Morgan and Chloe Pereira also notched wins for Al DuFaux's Spartans at the four, five and six spots.
The Spartans will look to remain hot as it returns to the court on Sunday at 10 a.m., against No. 3 Lynn University in a meeting between Sunshine State Conference foes.
