No. 15 Tennis Continues Winning Streak with 8-1 Victory over Bentley
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 15 University of Tampa (10-3) women's tennis team kept its winning streak intact with an 8-1 victory over Bentley University (5-4) on Thursday afternoon at the Naimoli and Young Family Tennis Complex.
The Spartans took two of three doubles matches to get play started as the top team of Lauren Hewett and Meg Wladimirski prevailed by an 8-0 count. Kelsey Matthews and Lindsay Nochowicz won at the two spot by a score of 8-1, while Nikol Williams and Chloe Pereira dropped their match 8-5.
Garcia led the charge in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the number-one match. She was followed by number two Wladimirski who dominated her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Hewett, Matthews, Pereira and Jenelle Morgan won their matches with ease to complete the sweep for head coach Al DuFaux's singles lineup.
Tampa is back in action on Saturday as it resumes plays versus St. Cloud State University. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at the UT Complex.
