SSC Tourney Concludes With Slim Spartan Loss
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 14 University of Tampa (15-8) tennis team came out on the wrong side of a 5-4 decision as No. 21 Nova Southeastern University (8-13) took the No. 7 match of the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Championships.
In doubles play, the two team of Kelsey Matthews and Lindsay Nochowicz played to an 8-5 victory while the three doubles team dropped the tiebreaker to allow Nova to take a 2-1 lead following doubles.
In singles, Nochowicz and Matthews won in straight sets from the three and four matches, while Lauren Hewett was victorious in a three-set thriller. Top singles player Thashia Garcia did not play in singles, forcing the Spartans to move each player up one spot.
