No. 39 PBA Edges Tampa in Season Opener
Kristen Mee won at No. 1 singles and doubles against a nationally-ranked opponent.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The University of Tampa tennis team opened the 2016 season with a 5-4 loss to No. 39 Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday.
The UT doubles team of Kristen Mee and Emily Hewland earned a 9-8 win after taking the tie-break by a 7-2 score in the number-one match.
Mee was also victorious from her No. 1 singles spot, defeating Kathi Tesar by a 6-4, 6-3 score. Also winning singles matches for Tampa were No. 3 Maddie Stephens and No. 6 Bridgett Blowe.
The Spartans wrap up their south Florida swing with a Sunday morning match against Broward College, which will start at 9 a.m.
