Tampa Roasts No. 34 Chestnut Hill
Gianna Pinasco returned to the UT lineup with a convincing singles victory and a victory in doubles.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (2-2) tennis team made its case for the national rankings as it defeated No. 34 Chestnut Hill College by a score of 5-4 on Thursday at the Naimoli & Young Family Complex.
UT grabbed an early lead as it edged the Griffins in doubles action, taking two of the three matches.
The number one doubles team of Kristen Mee and Emily Hewland played to an 8-3 victory, as the three team of Cameron Moskol and Gianna Pinasco won by an identical score.
In singles, the back-end of the UT lineup sealed the victory. Freshman Danielle Beyes won 6-0, 6-1 from her number-four spot. Joining Beyes as victors were Moskol at five (7-6, 7-5) and Pinasco at six (6-0, 6-0).
The Spartans will now look forward to a Spring Break trip that will feature two matches in Hawaii. UT will meet a pair of opponents in Hawaii Hilo and Chaminade on March 3 and 7 respectively.
