Bucs Power Past Spartans
Freshman Maddie Stephens prevailed in a third set tiebreak for Tampa.
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The University of Tampa (6-6, 0-4 SSC) tennis team dropped a match to its second-straight national top-three opponent this week as No. 2 Barry University (11-0, 3-0 SSC) defeated UT in a Sunshine State Conference match.
The lone UT victory came in the number-four singles match where freshman Maddie Stephens took the victory after a third-set tie break. Stephens won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second 6-4. She won earn the win on a 10-8 tie-break victory.
Tampa concludes its south Florida swing on Sunday at 10 a.m., when it faces off against No. 7 Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
