UT Tennis Wins Spring Tennis Fest Opener
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Tampa tennis team won its fifth straight match outclassing the Huskies of Michigan Tech in a neutral site contest.

Team Records: University of Tampa: 7-4, Michigan Technological University: 10-7
How it Happened:

The Spartans won all three doubles matches with each of the three teams winning with a score of 6-2.

UT is 6-0 this season when winning the doubles portion of competition.

Tampa won four of six singles matches with key success in the bottom half of the lineup with four to six singles all winning their matches.

Ekaterina Grib finished her singles match first, as she won over Tech's number one player Ivona Gorgioski 6-1, 6-2. Gorgioski was a first team all-GLIAC player last season.

Nicoline Palmgren defeated Mirna Golac 6-1, 6-1 in the six singles position. Palmgren has been superb in her return to the starting lineup, dominating her last two matches.

Corbin Dorsey clinched the match for Tampa in the fourth singles position. Tampa led 3-2 before Dorsey's victory. She won over the Huskies' Lauren Opalewski 7-6 (7-1), 6-2.

The Huskies are now 1-3 at the Spring Tennis and play Chowan tomorrow.

Tampa improves to 7-0 versus non-ranked opponents and 7-1 against non-conference teams.
Up Next: Tampa tennis takes on the University of Missouri St. Louis at 8:30 a.m. on Friday for the second of three matches at Hilton Head Island. The Tritons are 4-1 this season and are 2-0 at the Spring Tennis Fest. They defeated both Michigan Tech and Chowan 6-1. This is the first-ever meeting between Tampa and Missouri-St. Louis.
