Weekly Preview: No. 9 Tampa Set for Battle Against No. 2 NSU

Tampa come off a loss last Saturday, April 8th against No. 1 Barry University.

No. 9 Tampa vs No. 2 Nova Southeastern

Both teams ranked Top 10 via ITA, with a lot to prove coming close to the end of the regular season. Nova has a commanding 16-3 lead in all-time matchups against the Tampa. The last time Tampa faced Nova Southeastern, was back in April of 2022, where the Spartans lost, 4-0. Tampa recently lost to No. 1 Barry (7-0) while Nova Southeastern prevailed against Palm Beach Atlantic (4-3). No. 1 Deniz Khazan defeated No. 13 Raquel Amaro, ending her two-match win streak. Although No. 1 Barry took doubles, No. 44 ranked Wilberg/Williams were able to defeat Pichler/Wang (BU) on Court 2. Tampa's three of their last matches have resulted in a loss heading into this upcoming SSC matchup against Nova Southeastern. With only two losses on the year (One in Conference), NSU looks to continue their five-match winning streak. Relying on their prominent players such as, No. 6 Julie Razafindranaly & No. 9 Natalie Espinal to pull the Sharks through in this upcoming matchup. Espinal (14-2), has not lost a singles match since February, 18th against Nadja Meier of Flagler State. She will be representing the Sharks on the maincourt against, No. 13 Raquel Amaro (11-3). Meanwhile, Razafindranaly (10-6) had a eight-match winning streak to get her 10 wins on the season a couple of weeks back. Howvever, has sufferred four-straight losses. She will be most likely be going against Victoria Sanchez (9-5).
