No. 7 Lynn Edges Tampa in Close Contest

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team took on another top-10 opponent in No. 7 Lynn this afternoon. In a tightly contested match, the Spartans fell just short of securing their first conference victory of the season.

How it Happened

The match opened with doubles play, where Lynn was able to take all three matches and secure the first point of the day. Despite a strong effort from the duo of Victoria Sanchez and Nicole Cierniak, who pushed their match to a close 6-4 decision, the Spartans were unable to pick up a doubles victory.

In singles action, Tampa made a strong push, taking three of the six matches. Nicole Casas and Ida Axelsson each delivered impressive performances, with Casas battling through three sets to claim a hard-fought win at No. 2 singles. Alexandra Chebli also shined, securing a straight-set victory that included a dominant second set. Meanwhile, Cierniak fought through a grueling three-setter but ultimately fell just short.
