#2 Tampa Volleyball Wins A Pair At Tampa Classic
Tampa, Fla. - The second-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team improved its record to 3-0 with a pair of victories in the 2006 Tampa Classic. Tampa recorded a pair of 3-0 wins over St. Edwards (Texas) and Northern Kentucky in the second of three days of action.
In the match against St. Edwards, Tampa was led by Katelen Dixon, who was the team's lone player to register double figures in kills with 13. Dixon was 13 of 23 for the game with a .478 attack percentage. Alisha Green led Tampa with four blocks and also had six kills. Tarah Marinelli and Margeux Sinibaldi led the team with 10 digs apiece as Gabriela Saade registered 18 assists and three service aces, both team highs.
In the second match, against Northern Kentucky, the Spartans were led once again by Dixon, who recorded a team-high 13 kills. Other Spartans with double figures in kills were Stephanie Rivera (12), Danielle MacDonald (11) and Tarah Marinelli (10). Rivera also had a team-high four blocks and was 12-19 with a .632 attack percentage. Gabriela Saade led the Spartans with a season-high 40 assists and Margeaux Sinibaldi led Tampa in digs for the third time this season with 11.
Tampa is back in action tomorrow as they face #15 Lock Haven at 4 pm.
