#4 Tampa Downs Rollins In Consecutive Games
Tampa, Fla. - The fourth-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team finished off visiting Rollins in consecutive games, winning 3-0 over its Sunshine State Conference foe. The Spartans improve to 20-1 with the victory and move to 8-1 in SSC play.
A trio of Spartans led the way with double figures in kills, including Katelen Dixon (13), Stephanie Rivera (12) and Alisha Green (10). Gabriela Saade was credited with 36 assists while her sister, Camila Saade led the team with 11 digs. Tampa, who recorded nine blocks compared to Rollins' three, received five blocks from Green, four from Erin Clark and three from Danielle MacDonald.
The Spartans enjoyed an excellent attack percentage as the team hit .431 for the match. After hitting .390 in game one, the Spartans responded with a .520 clip in the second game and .417 in game three. MacDonald finished 9-11 for a .818 mark while Dixon (.480) and Green (.412) were above .400.
Tampa returns to action on Friday, October 13, when it hosts Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm at the Bob Martinez Sports Center.
