Tampa Serves Three Game Sweep to Montevallo
TAMPA, Fla. - The top-ranked University of Tampa volleyball team changed up its lineup but handed out a similar result as it defeated the University of Montevallo 3-0. The Spartans improve to 21-1 on the season as the Lady Falcons drop to 7-25.
The Spartans enjoyed individual game victories of 30-19, 30-12 and 30-22. UT started with an unfamiliar lineup, giving freshman setter Meghan Sherman her first career start. Camila Saade also earned her third start of the season as Annalea Warren started for the 10th time.
Tampa finished with 14 total service aces, coming within one of the school record. Camila Saade led the way with five aces while Erin Clark added three. Sherman and Melissa Vanderhall each added two.
Freshman Kaleigh Cunningham came off the bench to enjoy a career day as the freshman led the Spartans with 13 kills. Cunningham also registered eight digs, two assists and a service ace. Clark was the only other Spartan to record double figures in kills as she added 11 and a .625 hitting percentage.
Sherman, who played the entire match at setter, finished with a career high 48 assists. She also had eight digs.
Margeaux Sinibaldi finished with a team-high 15 digs as she now needs just two to reach 2,000 career digs. She will become the 22nd player in NCAA II history to reach the milestone as she already is the UT and SSC all-time leader in career digs.
Tampa is back in action on Wednesday as it returns to SSC action to host Rollins at 7 p.m.
