#5 Tampa Earns Sweep of Rollins
WINTER PARK, Fla. - The fifth-ranked University of Tampa (13-1, 4-1 SSC) volleyball team picked up its fourth straight Sunshine State Conference victory with a 3-0 win at Rollins College (14-7, 1-4 SSC).
After winning the first set by a 25-20 score, UT notched consecutive 25-21 wins in the final two sets to complete the three set sweep. After trailing just twice in the first two sets, Tampa took the first six points in the third. The Tars battled back to tie the score at 16-16 before Tampa answered with a 5-1 run to regain control of the set.
Sam Macks, Danielle MacDonald and Melissa Vanderhall each led Tampa with 10 kills apiece. Macks was particularly efficient as she finished 10-13 with a .769 hitting percentage. Kaleigh Cunningham also added nine kills.
Gabriela Saade led the Spartans with 24 assists as she split time with Meghan Sherman, who finished with 18 on the night.
Vanderhall and Camila Saade each tallied seven digs as a total of seven UT players had multiple digs. Macks and MacDonald each had three blocks, with MacDonald registering one solo block.
UT finished the contest with a .333 attack percentage as Rollins hit just .208. Tampa also had five blocks, compared to none by the Tars.
