#4 Tampa Outlasts Eckerd In Four
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The University of Tampa (15-1, 6-1) volleyball team drops Eckerd College (12-8, 3-4) 3-1 to continue strong play in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Spartans came out of the gate hot, hitting .600 as a team, to take the first set 25-17. The Tritons responded by winning the second set 25-21 to even the score at one game apiece. UT would win the third set 25-21 when Melissa Vanderhall recorded nine out of her 17 kills. Tampa would go on to win the fourth set 25-19 to win the match.
Annalea Warren finished second on the team in kills with 11, while Sophomore Sam Macks had eight on her way to a .583 hitting percentage. Tampa finished with 57 total kills and hit .323 while Eckerd was limited to 47 kills and .197.
The defense was led by Senior Camila Saade with 13 digs. Kaleigh Cunningham and Gabriela Saade turned in eight kills each with Saade recording 37 assists. Camille Hanks registered two solo blocks and Macks had three assisted blocks.
The Spartans are back in action this Sunday when they host Lynn
