
#5 Tampa Handles Flagler In Four
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (22-2) volleyball team defeated Flagler (19-15) in four sets to earn its fourth straight win.
The Spartans won the opening two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-22, before dropping the third 22-25. UT took the fourth set 25-14 to earn the victory.
Senior Danielle MacDonald and sophomore Melissa Vanderhall led the Tampa offense as MacDonald tallied 16 kills, and Vanderhall 11. Six other Spartans recorded at least three kills as UT totaled 82 points.
The UT defense was evenly spread as 11 Spartans registered a dig with Annalea Warren notching a team high of nine. Senior Gabriela Saade and sophomore Meghan Sherman split setting duties as Saade recorded 31 assists, and Sherman 26.
Tampa held the edge in hitting percentage over Flagler, .310 to .181. UT also registered more blocks with seven as Flagler had five.
