UT Finishes Off Arkansas Tech In Regional Crossover
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The No. 5 University of Tampa (9-1) volleyball team concluded its trip to the Hemingway's Island Grill Regional Crossover with a 3-0 sweep over Arkansas Tech (6-5). The Spartans won by scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-14.
Following a tight first set, the Spartans forced 11 Arkansas Tech hitting errors in the second set as UT hit .308. Tampa then closed out the match with a .282 attack percentage in the final frame.
Melissa Vanderhall led all Spartans with 15 kills while hitting .483. Meghan Sherman and freshman Molly Krull split time at setter, recording 18 and 16 assists apiece.
Julie Howlett turned in a team-high 16 digs as six different Spartans tallied at least one block. Sam Macks held team honors with three blocks, including one solo.
The Spartans will travel to Boca Raton to meet Lynn University in its Sunshine State Conference opener on Friday. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
