Spartans Sweep Grand Valley State To Finish Tampa Classic With Win
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (3-1) volleyball team closed out play at the Tampa Classic with a 3-0 victory over Grand Valley State University (1-3). UT won by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-21.
Kaleigh Cunningham led all Spartans with 14 kills as teammates Jessica Yingling and Eva Dupay turned in 12 and 10 respectively. In Tampa's four matches at the classic, Yingling led the team with 46 kills.
Meghan Sherman set up the Spartan offense with 40 assists as the senior setter also had seven digs. Sherman also collected three kills and a .750 hitting percentage.
The Spartans finished with five blocks, compared to two by a tall Laker squad. Dupay and Danielle Selkridge each registered two blocks, with Selkridge recording one solo.
Tampa travels to Denver for the 2010 Premiere Classic, where it will open play on Friday versus Dowling.
