
#5 Tampa Concludes Perfect Week With Sweep Of Florida Tech
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (13-3, 5-1 SSC) volleyball team won its second match in as many days with a 3-0 victory over Florida Tech (7-9, 1-5 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference meeting from the Bob Martinez Sports Center.
The Spartans won by scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-13 as it outhit the Panthers by a .333 to .012 clip. UT forced 21 Florida Tech errors and hit .407 and .444 in the first and third sets respectively.
A total of 15 Spartans received playing time with 11 notching at least one kill. Kaleigh Cunningham led all hitters with nine kills as Jessica Yingling added eight. A day after setting a career high with 19 kills, Yingling was 8-for-13 with no errors and an impressive .615 attack percentage.
Meghan Sherman tallied 34 assists as freshman Kaylee Koetter saw action in the third set, finishing with three.
Defensively, Julie Howlett was credited with nine digs to lead UT as the team held a 34-29 margin in the defensive stat. Sherman, Sam Macks and Danielle Selkridge each registered four blocks as head coach Chris Catanach's squad finished with 12 blocks compared to four by its opponent.
