
Rollin’s Voyage Ends With Spartan Victory
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 2 University of Tampa volleyball team coasted to a three set victory over Rollins College. The Spartans stand at a still perfect 14-0 with a 6-0 record in Sunshine State Conference while the Tars fall to 9-7 with a 2-2 tally in conference matchups.
Tampa paced the three set victory off of a .433 hitting percentage while also limiting the Tars to a .148 clip on the Spartan victory. Middle hitter Danielle Selkridge led the UT squad in kills and attack percentage with 11 and .588 respectively. Outside hitter Holly Reschke hit an errorless 9-for-16 as fellow outside Eva Dupay also grounded nine balls.
Senior Dupay also led all Spartans with 16 digs with libero Julie Howlett notching 14. Reschke and Selkridge tallied three blocks each as Tampa totaled nine on the match to round out the Spartan defense.
In the first frame, Selkridge swatted five kills while junior Jessica Yingling picked up four in the premier set. A trio of Spartans tallied three kills in the set one victory in Reschke, Dupay and freshman middle blocker Meagan Burke. UT topped the Tars 25-19 in the first stanza.
The Spartans paced the second set attack off of a .536 hitting percentage, committing no errors in the frame. Three on the UT squad picked up four kills on the 25-13 win, as Selkridge, Burke and Dupay continued their blistering offense.
The final stanza was won by a 25-16 margin as the Tampa team coasted to a three set win. Freshman setter Kahley Patrick totaled 37 assists on the crucial win.
