
Spartans Christen 15-0 Record with Win Over Sailfish
TAMPA, Fla. - Continuing their perfect season, the No. 2 University of Tampa volleyball team fileted the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish in three sets. The Spartans stampede to a 15-0 record while PBA picks up their second loss with a 12-2 season tally.
Outside hitter Holly Reschke led all Spartans with 10 kills on the match, with middle hitter Danielle Selkridge and senior Eva Dupay each tallied nine swats on the victory. Junior Selkridge limited the Sailfish to a .178 hitting percentage with Dupay and libero Julie Howlett notching 10 and 15 digs respectively.
Freshman setter Kahley Patrick recorded a career high four service aces, all coming in the second set. The setter also tallied 20 assists on the match for the Spartans.
In the premier stanza, the UT squad won by a close 25-22 margin as the set saw 11 tie scores. Middle blocker Meagan Burke tallied three each in blocks and kills, as the freshman was a force in the first frame.
Naples native Reschke led the Spartans to a second set victory, posting five kills while hitting at a .714 clip. UT took the frame by a 25-16 tally.
Tampa came out swinging in the third set, as the Spartans quickly owned a 7-2 margin. The home squad totaled a .593 attack percentage in the third frame while limiting PBA to a .194 clip. Selkridge swung a perfect 3-for-3 while Eva Dupay grounded a set high six kills as the Tampa team won 25-15.
The Spartans hit the road to face the final two Sunshine State Conference foes in the Florida Tech Panthers and the Nova Southeastern University Sharks. The Friday night match against the Panthers is set for a 7 p.m. start time while the Saturday matinee is slated to begin at 4 p.m. Live stats will be provided through www.tampaspartans.com.
