
Spartan Duo Sweeps Weekly SSC Awards
ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Eva Dupay and Danielle Selkridge have been tabbed Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for the period ending October 16. Selkridge, a leading candidate for the SSC Player of the Year, wins the award for the fourth time in 2011 as this marks Dupay's first.
A senior outside hitter from Fort Myers, Fla., Dupay averaged 3.3 kills with a .443 hitting percentage as the No. 2 Spartans rolled to three sweeps at West Florida's Regional Crossover. Dupay's biggest outings came in wins over Valdosta State and Christian Brothers. She tallied 15 kills with a whopping .700 attack percentage in the VSU victory, and then had 10 kills, four service aces, and seven digs in the victory versus CBU. Named to the all-tournament team, Dupay concluded the event with averages of 2.3 digs, 0.4 service aces, 0.3 blocks, and 0.1 assists per set.
Selkridge, a junior middle hitter from Tortola, Virgin Islands, averaged 1.7 blocks per set to help lead the No. 2 Spartans to a trio of three-set victories. Selkridge tallied five blocks in a win over Valdosta State. She then posted four blocks with 10 kills versus Christian Brothers. Selkridge wrapped up the week with six blocks and 11 kills against host West Florida. Her efforts helped hold UT's opponents to a meager .086 attack percentage. She was named the Most Outstanding Player at the West Florida Regional Crossover.
