
Streaking Spartans Cash Out Bucs
TAMPA, Fla. - Winning their 29th straight set, the No. 2 University of Tampa volleyball team swept Barry University in three quick sets. The Spartans improve to a pristine 22-0 on the season with a 9-0 record in Sunshine State Conference play while the Buccaneers drop to 9-11 with a 1-8 SSC tally.
Reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Week Danielle Selkridge continued her dominance as the 6'2 middle hitter notched 12 kills with a .625 attack percentage. The junior also blocked four Barry attacks to help limit the Bucs to a meager -.045 team hitting percentage.
Offensive Player of the Week Eva Dupay swatted seven kills while junior Jessica Yingling notched eight. Setter Kahley Patrick assisted 23 Spartan attacks with junior Sloane Bâby contributing 14.
Libero Julie Howlett and outside hitter Yingling each tallied 10 digs on the win with Dupay, Yingling and Meagan Burke picking up a pair of blocks each.
In the premier set of play, Selkridge swung a sweltering 6-for-6 in the 25-14 win. Yingling and Dupay tallied four kills each with the team combining a .577 hitting percentage.
UT took the second frame 25-19 as a trio of Spartans picked up a trio of kills in Selkridge, Yingling and sophomore Holly Reschke.
The third set was led by familiar hitters Dupay and Selkridge each finishing the set with another three kills each. Selkridge blocked three attacks in the 25-15 victory.
