Camille Hanks and Eva Dupay Named Academic All-Americans
TOWSON, Md. - The University of Tampa placed two student-athletes on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Volleyball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Tampa is represented by senior Camille Hanks on the second team and senior Eva Dupay on the third team. They led the Spartans to a 33-2 record and a berth in the NCAA Division II semifinals.
The pair becomes the first Academic All-American in volleyball since Margeaux Sinibaldi achieved third-team status in 2007. Prior to Hanks and Dupay, just four Spartans from volleyball were named to the team. The others include Susanne Wolmesjo (1988), Donna Schroeder (1986) and Cathy Fox (1986).
Hanks carries a 3.92 GPA while majoring in psychology and English. She is a three-time academic all-region selection and three-year member of the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Dupay joined Hanks as a first-team academic all-region choice in 2011, as she owns a 3.53 GPA with a major in biology and pre-dental. She was twice named SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 Capital One D-II Academic All-America® teams program.
