Tampa Continues Dominance Against Conference Rival
TAMPA, Fla. - Gaining momentum in the Sunshine State Conference, the No. 7 University of Tampa volleyball team charmed Florida Southern College in a three set sweep.
The Spartans improve to 10-2 with a perfect 3-0 in SSC matchups while the previously perfect Mocs take their first conference loss 2-1 with a 10-5 mark on the season.
The offensive tandem in Danielle Selkridge and Jessica Yingling amassed nine kills each on the crucial conference win. Sophomore Jackie Neff posted a career high seven kills while Holly Reschke grounded six.
Freshman Meagan Burke blocked four snake attacks, three solo to help limit FSC to a .153 attack in the three set win.
Setter Kahley Patrick assisted 29 attacks with a team leading 14 digs to pace the Spartan defense alongside freshman libero Jen Scholz who totaled 11 digs.
FSC outside hitter Anne Pietkiewicz led the Mocs with 14 kills while Ali Skayhan assisted 31 attacks and dug out 17.
The Spartans have not taken a loss at home from their SSC rival since 1994 and have defeated Florida Southern in the last nine matchups.
