Tampa Set to Host Florida Tech in SSC Battle
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 2 University of Tampa volleyball team will play host to Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Tech on Tuesday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
Following a double-header sweep in Saturday's South Regional Crossover Tournament against Gulf South Conference opponents West Georgia and Christian Brothers, the Spartans and Panthers will face off at 7 p.m.
Tampa enters the match with a 19-3 overall record and an SSC-best 8-0 showing. The Spartans are winners in 14 of their last 15 matches, and remain two games ahead of second-place Eckerd in league play.
Reigning SSC and South Region Player of the Year Danielle Selkridge leads Tampa with 268 kills to go with a .472 hitting percentage and 76 blocks, all team highs. Kahley Patrick has a team high 814 assists as Holly Reschke is second on the team in kills (240).
The Panthers enter the match with a 14-6 overall record and 4-4 mark in the SSC. Florida Tech is coming off back to back wins against Webber International and SSC foe Lynn, taking both matches 3-1.
UT holds a 65-0 edge in the all-time series, including a 3-0 victory earlier this season at Florida Tech on September 22.
Tickets are available at the gate for $5. Children 12-and-under will be admitted free. UT faculty, staff and students are admitted free when displaying a valid Spartan ID card.
