Danielle Selkridge Named South Region Player of the Year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - One day after being named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, University of Tampa volleyball player Danielle Selkridge claimed her second straight Daktronics South Region Player of the Year honor.

Also a first-team selection, Selkridge was joined on the team by teammate Holly Reschke. Fellow Spartans Meagan Burke and Kahley Patrick were also honored as second-team selections. A total of 15 student-athletes comprised the first and second teams.

Selkridge, a senior from Tortola, Virgin Islands, becomes the second player in program history to earn the award twice, joining Melissa Vanderhall (2008-09). Selkridge is the nation's leader with a .503 hitting percentage and also leads the team in kills (368), block solos (27), block assists (74) total blocks (101) and points (433.0).

Reschke, a junior outside hitter, is second on the team with 311 kills and also has 177 digs and 41 total blocks.

Burke, a sophomore middle hitter from Jacksonville, Fla., carries a .396 hitting percentage to rank in the nation's top-10. Patrick, a sophomore setter from Clearwater, Fla., leads the Spartans with 1,050 assists.

The first-team players will now appear on the ballot for All-American honors with all first-team all-region players.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.

The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
