Tampa Volleyball Adds Georgia Transfer Courtney Vogler
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa volleyball program has announced the addition of Courtney Vogler, who will enroll at the school for the spring of 2015 term.
"We are excited to have Courtney join our 2016 freshmen class," says head coach Chris Catanach. "Courtney has an opportunity to get acclimated to our school and volleyball program this spring, which should lead to a successful Fall season for her. Courtney has a tremendous desire to be great and we think she will impact our program in many positive ways."
Vogler spent the fall semester at the University of Georgia, where she redshirted with the Bulldogs in her freshman season. The 6-3 middle blocker will have four years of eligibility at Tampa.
"I couldn't be more excited to be back in Tampa as a Spartan and attend UT," says Vogler.
She returns to her hometown after graduating from the Academy of the Holy Names, where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Jaguars. A two-time team captain, Vogler was named to the All-Hillsborough County Team as a sophomore and junior. As a senior, she was named the 66th-best volleyball player in the nation.
She was also the team's Offensive MVP as both a sophomore and junior, while helping her team to a district championship as a junior. She was part of a team that advanced to the state semifinals for the first time in 30 years at Holy Names.
She also played for the Tampa Bay One Black Team since 2012 and competed on the European Global Challenge, where she helped her team to a second-place finish. Academically, she was a member of the President's Honor Roll and yearbook staff.
Vogler intends to major in international business and management at UT.
