Tampa Volleyball Outduels Eckerd in SSC Action

TAMPA, Fla. - Continuing her offensive tear, senior Marissa Lisenbee rolled the No. 5 University of Tampa volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Eckerd College on Friday night in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.

The Spartans improve to 7-3 on the season with a 2-0 record in Sunshine State Conference play while the visiting Tritons fall to 5-4, 0-1 in conference matchups.

UT extends its win record in conference action to 54 consecutive victories, dating back to Oct. 2011.

Right side hitter Lisenbee totaled 17 kills in the match, hitting at a .471 attack percentage while adding 14 digs for her third consecutive double-double. The Seminole, Fla. native added four blocks and a service ace in her dominant effort.

Fellow senior Berkley Whaley added 16 kills at a .333 clip from the outside pin, notching eight digs and four blocks on defense. Middle blocker Jessica Wagner notched double-digit kills with 10, converting at a .471 attack percentage while her middle counterpart Katarina Milojevic blocked five attacks in her three sets of play.

Setter Gina Clarke held the offensive tempo, dishing out 46 assists while adding eight digs on defense. Freshman Logan Holanchock notched 12 digs while serving a career-best four aces in her second SSC contest.

Eckerd College turned to conference kills per set leader, Tjasa Kotnik, as the outside hitter termined 12 kills for her team-lead. Sophomore Katie Arnette blasted 10 kills as the Tritons were limited to a meager .095 team attack percentage though four sets of play.

Tampa will hit the road to continue SSC play, traveling to Winter Park, Fla. to meet the Tars of Rollins College on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. Live stats will be available through www.tampaspartans.com.
