
Tampa Dismantles Union in Three Sets
The University of Tampa volleyball team throttled the Bulldogs in consecutive sets led by junior Molly McAlvany.
TAMPA, Fla. – Behind a team .506 attack percentage, the No. 21 University of Tampa volleyball team throttled Union University in consecutive sets. Junior Molly McAlvany hit .769 (10-0-13) with three service aces on her birthday performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 | Tampa scored 22 points in the opening set, using its strong offense to roll to a 25-15 win. The team hit an even .500 behind perfect 4-for-4 outings from junior McAlvany and freshman Taylor Fosler. Senior Allee Stelogeannis contributed four kills to her credit while also picking up a pair of blocks.
Set 2 | McAlvany continued to carve up the Union defense, posting a five-kill second set. Sophomore Gen Beaumier blasted four kills in five swings. Defensively, Stelogeannis posted nine digs in the frame while libero Logan Holanchock provided seven digs.
Set 3 | The Spartans capped off their juggernaut offense with a team .737 attack clip in the final set of action. The squad totaled 14 kills in 19 attempts as a team highlighted by a 4-for-6 set from Stelogeannis.
INSIDE THE STATS:
• UT hit a whopping .506 attack percentage as a team, led by junior McAlvany. The outside hitter hit an errorless 10-for-13 with a career-best .769 attack percentage. The Roswell, Ga. native added three service aces and six digs.
• Tampa's setting corps posted a combined for 37 assists as Sammy Mueller totaled 22 and Jen Aprile added 15 assists. The tandem paced Tampa to its best attacking performance of the season.
• Middle blocker Fosler finished with three blocks, including a pair of solo efforts. The freshman concluded the weekend with nine total blocks, averaging 1.00 per set.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• The Spartans committed just six attack errors in the sweep, their lowest number all season. The .506 attack clip is Tampa's highest attack percentage this season and the highest since the 2012 year when the team hit .577 against Christian Brothers on Oct. 20.
• UT posted a side-out percentage of 90% in the final set of play, its highest all season. For the match, Tampa posted a 76% side-out mark across three sets.
