
Spartans Roll Through Tars on the Road
Freshman Katie McKiel posted a match-high 14 kills as Tampa bested Rollins in straight-sets.
WINTER PARK, Fla. – Led by a right side onslaught from freshman Katie McKiel, the No. 23 University of Tampa volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Rollins College on Friday night in Warden Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 | McKiel blasted a six-kill salvo in the opening frame, converting kills at a .667 attack percentage. Senior Allee Stelogeannis added four kills and four digs, notching a pair of blocks at the net. Freshman Sammy Mueller posted seven assists in split time as the Spartans rolled to a 25-15 win.
Set 2 | The Tars led for most of the second set, trading points with Tampa until the late points. Behind the defense of Stelogeannis and a spark off the bench from Courtney Randazzo, the Spartans were able to take the lead at 23-22. Outside hitter Stelogeannis finished the set with seven digs while a late set substitution gave Randazzo two quick kills. Tampa won by a close 25-23 score to earn a 2-0 match advantage.
Set 3 | Freshman McKiel grounded five more kills in the final set of action to lead Tampa to a sweep of Rollins. Junior Molly McAlvany provided four kills from the outside pin as Stelogeannis continued to put on a defensive show with nine digs in the final set of action. Libero Logan Holanchock posted seven digs in the frame while McAlvany added six. UT ended the contest with a 25-22 final set.
INSIDE THE STATS:
• Right side hitter McKiel finished with a match-high 14 kills at a solid .355 attack percentage. The freshman added a pair of digs and a block for defense.
• Stelogeannis finished with a match-high 20 digs while Holanchock concluded with 15 digs. The Spartan defense held Rollins to a .031 team attack percentage as the squad finished with 63 digs and eight team blocks.
• Freshman Taylor Fosler totaled three blocks while Stelogeannis mirrored with her own trio of stops.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• As the Sunshine State Conference's top offense in attack percentage, Tampa was held below a .200 team clip for just the sixth time this season.
• The 63 digs for the Spartans were the most in a three set match all season. The previous high for a three set match was 49 against Shorter on Oct. 14.
