Holanchock Makes History as Tampa defeats FIT 3-1
Sophomore Logan Holanchock became the 13th Spartans to pass 1,000 digs and is just the third athlete to do so in her second season of play.
TAMPA, Fla. – Posting 21 digs in the match, sophomore Logan Holanchock led the No. 23 University of Tampa volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Florida Tech on Saturday at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. The libero secured her 1,000th career dig in the second set to become the second-fastest Spartan to reach their millennial dig.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 | Senior Allee Stelogeannis swatted four kills to open play while Molly McAlvany and Alexandra Misca grounded three each. Junior McAlvany began with a perfect 3-for-3 in the first stanza as Tampa's offense defeated the Panthers 25-19.
Set 2 | FIT middle blocker Olivia Hersey led the Panthers in the second set, posting six kills. Florida Tech evened the match at 1-1 after winning the second frame by a 25-17 score. Outside hitter McAlvany added four kills while Holanchock picked up her 1,000th dig, notching six total in the stanza.
Set 3 | Trailing for most of the set, Tampa rebounded at 23-22 to outlast the Panthers in the third set. McAlvany blasted a five-kill barrage while Misca and Stelogeannis each totaled four in the set. Holanchock's defense was stalwart, reaching 11 digs for 20 total through three sets of action.
Set 4 | UT finished off FIT behind a three-kill effort from McAlvany. Stelogeannis and freshman Katie McKiel added three apiece as Tampa finished the set hitting .385 on route to a 25-15 win to take the game.
INSIDE THE STATS:
• Junior McAlvany led the offense with 15 kills for a new career-high, converting at a respectable .343 attack percentage. The outside hitter notched her second double-double of the season, adding 12 digs on defense and posting three blocks at the net.
• Setter Jen Aprile turned her seventh double-double of the season and her third consecutive. The junior posted 11 digs and 19 assists in UT's 3-1 win over Tech.
• The Spartans totaled 13 blocks led by middle blockers Misca and Taylor Fosler. The duo combined for nine blocks while Misca led the match with five total. Senior Stelogeannis stopped an impressive three solo blocks in her rounded effort.
• Florida Tech was led by Hersey and Heather Bowersox, as the duo grounded 10 kills each. Defensively, libero Becca Bower amassed 16 digs for the Panther defense.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• Tampa continues its dominance over Florida Tech, improving on the all-time record with the 3-1 victory. UT now sits 74-0 against the Panthers.
• The Spartans recorded 13 total blocks as a team, its highest number since Oct. 21 when the team totaled 14 against Nova Southeastern.
• With over 1,000 total digs, Holanchock becomes the 13th Spartan to accomplish the feat and is the second fastest to do so. Only two other UT volleyball student-athletes surpassed 1,000 digs as a sophomore as the libero joins Margeaux Sinibaldi and Hilary Epling in the UT record books.
