Déjà Vu; Spartans Spoil Barry in Five Sets
Playing 10 total sets in three days against Barry, the No. 22 UT volleyball team mounted a three set comeback after Bucs won the first two frames over the Spartans.
TAMPA, Fla. – After trailing by two sets to Barry University, the No. 22 University of Tampa volleyball team bounced-back to take the contest 3-2 in dramatic fashion. The Spartans played in their 10th set against the Buccaneers in three days, but Alexandra Misca sparked the comeback victory to put Tampa into a tie for first place in the Sunshine State Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 | Senior Allee Stelogeannis provided a six kill attack but the Buccaneers offense outlasted UT in the first frame. Barry took the opening set 26-24 behind the swing of Jaeda Allen, as the junior totaled five kills. Tampa libero Logan Holanchock finished the premier set with eight digs for defense.
Set 2 | Barry's offense continued to make plays in the second set as Allen added another five kills. Outside hitter Brittany Reynolds reached eight kills through two sets as Tampa dropped the frame 28-26. Stelogeannis added four kills and two blocks but the Spartans were unable to pick up a win, entering the third set facing a 0-2 deficit.
Set 3 | Barry began the frame with a 7-3 advantage before the Spartans went on a 7-0 run to earn a 10-7 lead in the third frame. The two squads traded points before middle blocker Misca caught fire late in the set to give Tampa a 25-23 win and pull the match to a 2-1 Barry advantage
Set 4 | Misca led the charge in the fourth, providing the offensive spark that UT needed to even the match at 2-2. The Spartans took the frame by a 25-19 score to force its second fifth set match in three days, both against Barry.
Set 5 | Playing in its 10th set against the Bucs in three days, Tampa took the dramatic fifth set with another silencing block to end the match in favor of the Spartans by a 15-11 final score.
INSIDE THE STATS:
• Stelogeannis finished with a team-high 17 kills, adding 16 digs for yet another double-double. Misca led the squad in attack percentage, converting 13 kills at a .385 clip.
• Misca paced the defense at the net, tying the match high in blocks with six total. Barry middle Ivana Didanovic posted six blocks to her credit.
• Libero Holanchock nearly mirrored her defensive outing with 24 digs, one shy of her total in Wednesday night's matchup with Barry.
• Right side hitter Gen Beaumier posted nine kills at a solid .348 clip, adding three digs and two blocks.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• The double-double outing from Stelogeannis is her team-best 17th of the year and second in a row. The outside hitter ranks first in kills with 405 and second in digs with 346 in her final season of play.
• For the first time this season, Tampa won the match despite posting a lower attack percentage than its opponent. UT hit .183 while Barry hit a slightly higher .187 over the five frames.
• Tampa is now 2-2 in five set matches this season, picking up both wins from Barry in five-sets.
