
Tampa Volleyball is Set to Host Embry-Riddle
After defeating the No. 6 PBA Sailfish, Tampa hopes to continue building momentum against Embry-Riddle.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa is set to host SSC newcomer Embry-Riddle, tomorrow, November 7 at 7 p.m. in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
The Match: University of Tampa (13-13, 8-7 SSC) vs. Embry-Riddle (13-9, 8-8 SSC)

Last Time Out: The University of Tampa upset the No. 6 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a five-set thriller. The outside hitting duo of Sorrel Houghton and Nicole Dominguez led the Spartans to victory with 20 and 16 kills respectively. Right-side pin hitter Nylah Demps added 13 kills to the Spartan's offensive efforts, followed by middle blocker Taylor Fosler with 11. Sophomore setter Sammy Mueller piloted the Spartans with 48 assists, while freshman Kaitlyn Ajmani suited up as libero and logged 18 digs for UT. The fifth and final set came down to the wire, but Tampa was able to reel in the Sailfish with a 23-21 victory.
About the Spartans: The Spartans are led offensively by freshman outside hitter, Sorrel Houghton. Houghton currently sits with 279 kills on the season, averaging 3.07 kills per set and has an average hitting percentage of .222. Following Houghton on offense are the efforts of Nicole Dominguez, Nylah Demps, and Taylor Fosler, with 270, 213, and 209 kills respectively. Dominguez also currently leads the team on defense with 267 digs, followed by freshman Kaitlyn Ajmani with 196. Sophomore Sammy Mueller acts as the Spartan's starting setter and has 682 assists during this year's campaign, in addition to her 145 digs.
About the Eagles: The Eagles are currently 13-9 overall, 8-8 in the SSC. Offensively, Embry-Riddle is led by outside Melanie Canfield who has 303 kills with an average kill percentage of .239. The Eagles second greatest offensive threat is middle blocker Theresa Jordan. Jordan has 207 kills this season averaging a .210 hitting percentage. Alyssa Rudd runs the Eagles offense and has a whopping 862 assists, averaging 10.78 assists per set, while Olivia Roa is Embry's primary libero. Roa has picked up 488 digs thus far this season.
Series History: Tampa takes the all-time series history against Embry riddle 6-0.
