HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1 | Tampa took the court with a new lineup, one that revolved around the seniors as the team was celebrating them and all of their contributions to the program. All four seniors started for UT, with Jen Aprile at setter, Shelby Joslin and Molly McAlvany opposite each other on the outside, and with Kasey Reynolds as libero. Tampa was slow to start but UT was able to find their groove and ended the first set with a 25-20 victory. Aprile logged two assists for UT, Joslin and McAlvany matched each other with three kills, while libero Reynolds ended set one with six digs and two assists. However, it was sophomore middle blocker Taylor Fosler who led Tampa on offense with four kills. Additionally, Nylah Demps contributed to the Spartans offense on the right side, stating three kills in the set.
Set 2 | In the second game, coach Chris Catanach moved back to a more familiar lineup, moving Sammy Mueller to setter, Kaitlyn Ajmani to libero, and brining in outside hitters Sorrel Houghton and Nicole Dominguez. Dominguez led the team on offense with a phenomenal eight kills in the set, hitting a whopping .727, followed by Demps with five at a .261 kill percentage. Tampa's offense was way too much for Florida Tech to handle, and the Spartans won the set pretty handily with a final score of 25-13. Mueller recorded seven assists, while libero Ajmani logged four digs for UT.
Set 3 | Following intermission, the Spartans came out of the locker room picking up right where they left off. Demps continued to dominate on offense, with four more kills, ending the match with a team-high of 13 hitting .312 on the match. Following the offensive efforts of Demps was Dominguez who ended up hitting .444 with nine kills on 18 attempts. Additionally, Mueller ended the set with 29 assists in addition to stating a team-high of nine digs in the match. Tampa won the third set 25-20, ending senior night with a clean sweep.
